This may just be one of those drivers that needs to be unloaded/reloaded for suspend/resume cycles. Edit /etc/default/acpi-support, and add aic7xxx to the MODULES variable there. See if that resolves this for you. -- Hibernation problem with SCSI controller https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/27454
