I read the bug report here, and the kernel.org bug report. My error is the same
as the kernel.org described error - right down to the fact then once more
traffic then a DSL line carries, I get network card lockups. It is not limited
to just one specfic laptop model (in fact my box, is much, much older then that
- and worked fine until I changed Debian woody to Ubuntu breezy). Is it a BIOS
error ? possibly - is it a kenel error - yes - it caused a regression that makes
the system almost useless under any sort of a load. I will see if I can find
another vendors network card today to test if the error is specific to 8139too
or is in more general networking code. You'll notice that my machine doesn't
actually support ACPI (It pretends to have enough for Windows 98 - but thats it)
so I doubt that it is ACPI related.
