Ahhh this makes sense, if it's trying to autodetect where root is from the
kernel. To avoid device name confusion, I'm passing "root=LABEL=root" to my
kernel. I imagine this kills its autodetection something fierce. ;)

However, it shouldn't be too hard to just take a peek at /etc/mtab to see where
we are. Is this then really a bug with mkinitrd?
