Yes.  It worked some time ago (2.6.8? 2.6.6?) in the exact configuration that I
am now using it.

It also worked for some random kernel version between then and now but I forget
which one that is too. :(

Interesting note: if I take the cd-rom drive out of the enclosure and put in a
harddrive it works fine.
