There's a good reason for this. Gameport is detected just fine (ns588 is the pnp
gameport driver).
The ID shown is handled by the ns588 driver, and that is probably already
loaded. However, there is NO WAY, to detect what's on the other side of that
gameport (sort of like detecting what is connected on the other side of a DB9
serial port).
So no specific gameport joystick driver can be loaded. The user just has to
know. IMO, this should be handled by a gamepad/joystick configuration tool.
Kernel can't do anything more.
Marking it as not-a-bug. You should attempt to find where the appropriate
configuration should be done for this sort of thing (somewhere in gnome).
