OK. Available at:

  http://www.aglu.demon.nl/alsa/

are:

  libasound2_1.0.10rc1-1~1_i386.deb
  libasound2-dev_1.0.10rc1-1~1_i386.deb
  libasound2-doc_1.0.10rc1-1~1_all.deb
  alsa-oss_1.0.10rc1-1~1_i386.deb
  alsa-utils_1.0.10rc1-1~1_i386.deb
  linux-sound-base_1.0.10rc1-1~1_all.deb
  alsa-base_1.0.10rc1-1~1_all.deb
  alsa-source_1.0.10rc1-1~1_all.deb

N.B. You won't be able to install this alsa-utils package without
giving dpkg the --force-depends option, because it Depends on a
new version of the lsb-base package available only in Debian
unstable. The other packages should install without any problem.
You should be able to use make-kpkg to generate an alsa-modules
package for your kernel from the sources contained in alsa-source.
I have done this on a Debian etch system but I have never tried
it on an Ubuntu system. Perhaps someone else can give advice
about this.
