my mistake, the second problem still remains, it didn't show during several
tries after I increased the swap but it must have been luck (anyway swap is used
by hibernate not sleep, so it makes more sense).

I had a look at kernel message, I think I had the following messages when sleep
failed:

[4296834.795000] Stopping tasks:
