I'm not sure which package is to blame here but to avoid the bug getting
lost I will assign it to Plymouth for now.

Bug description:
  Boot process freezes at the splash screen and nothing happens after
  that. The computer can be suspended and it is able to return from
  suspend. Boot is possible by pressing escape early in the process to
  bypass plymouth.
