** Description changed:

I'm not really sure what is triggering the issue. I've tried to update
Ubiquity to the latest available version, but still cannot start the
installation. Without updating Ubiquity, I cannot ever start the
  installer.
+
+ I found that people with HiPDI monitors ― I have a HP 23.8-inch FHD IPS
+ VH240a ― had issues while trying to install 18.04 and solved them
+ setting the Monitor scaling to 100%. This setting is already at 100% on
+ my system.
+
+ If this might help, this is the hardware on my desktop:
+ Intel i7-8700K
+ Asus Rog Strix Z370-E
+ MSI GTX 1080 8GB
+ Corsair 2x16GB DDR4 3200
+
