No, you have to install grub to the full drive.  If it is GPT in a bios
booting machine then it must *have* a bios_grub partition, but that is
not where you install grub to.

  While installing Ubuntu on a existing drive, i choose a new partition
  for the boot loader. This partition is on the middle of the disk. It
  let me do ti but seems it does not work.
