/usr/sbin/grub-bios-setup: warning: this GPT partition label contains no
BIOS Boot Partition; embedding won't be possible.

It seems that you aren't using UEFI, but you did partition the disk with
GPT.  For a bios based machine to boot from a GPT disk you must create a
1 MiB bios_grub partition on it.

  Maybe (U)EFI has something to do with this.
