I found my way to Grub.  At least my machine is up and running but there
is still many error on my disk.

  Installation failure

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  I downloaded the 1754 files for the update from ubuntu 12.04 to 14.04
  and had to go offline for the rest of the installation process.  When
  my machine rebooted i got the following on the terminal.

  mount: mounting /dev/loop0 on /root failed: Invalid argument
  mount: mounting /dev on /root/dev failed: No such file or directory
  mount: mounting /sys on /root/sys failed: No such file or directory
  mount: mounting /proc on /root/proc failed: No such file or directory
  Target filesystem doesn't have requested /sbin/init.
  No init found.  Try passint init= bootarg

  
  BusyBox v1.21.1  (Ubuntu 1:1.21.0-1ubuntu1) built-in shell  (ash)
  Enter  'help' for a list of built-in command.

  (initramfs)

  
  I tried diffenrent tings including / with this result:
  /bin/sh: /:  Permission denied

  
  I certaintly hope you can help me because  my EliteBook 8440p is out of service.
