Using pageUp and pageDown is slow too, but not as much as mousewheel
scrolling which will hang vim for several minutes after just moving the
wheel up or down for a few seconds.

Title:
  vim unusable with large files

Status in “vim” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Try to edit a text file about 200MB in size, e.g. an sql, in my case a sql database dump.
Vim becomes unusably slow to respond to keyboard and mouse input, or at least to mousewheel scrolling.

Response time of the editor should not depend on the total size of the
file being edited, be it 200MB or 20GB.
