Title:
manpage for motd.tail refers to /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh which does not
  exist

Status in “manpages” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: manpages

The man page for motd.tail says:
  OVERVIEW
The initiation script /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh prepends a line contain‐
ing information about the system to /etc/motd.tail and stores the
resulting file in /var/run/motd. /etc/motd is a symbolic link to
/var/run/motd. This is done to prevent changes to /etc as the system
can not assume /etc to be writable.

  But I can't find /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh

So either the man page is wrong because /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh is
not used anymore or the manpage should mention that that file may not
exist and tell what is then performing the templating from
  /etc/motd.tail to /var/run/motd.
