We don't show it by default on purpose. We have gone to a lot of
trouble over the years to have a smooth boot up splash screen without
any obtrusive and/or cryptic text. This hint would fly in the face of
that policy.

Bug description:
On my Jaunty install grub shows on start up a message "press ESC to
enter GRUB menu" with a countdown of 3 sec. In Natty there is no such
message, I had to google to find out i have to press SHIFT.
