We don't want to be collecting this kind of data about all users'
filesystems. The vast majority of errors *will* be hardware errors, and
we won't be in a position to sift through the reports to make use of the
information about those that aren't. So, wontfix.

Title:
checkfs.sh should report fsck errors as bugs

Status in “sysvinit” package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: sysvinit

So far as I can tell, regular filesystem checks (every N
mounts/months) are intended as a safety measure to protect against
bugs in filesystem drivers or errors in hardware. Filesystem errors
are serious bugs that should be reported, while hardware errors should
be handled by some as-yet-unwritten application warning you about
  potential drive problems.

Reporting errors detected during regular FS checks will give us
valuable feedback about what (if any) bugs exist in Linux filesystems,
and will give us a picture of what hardware errors affect our users.
Discussions in ubuntu-devel-discuss [1], [2] about how to improve
users' experience around fsck'ing tend to founder on a lack of
evidence about what sort of bugs it actually catches in the real
world, so even a list of ignored bugs would be a useful tool the next
  time this discussion comes up.

These reports can be sent via apport - although it's intended for use
with crashes, it's well suited to this use case. checkfs.sh can
simply create a report in /var/crash/ as soon as that directory is
confirmed to be writable, and apport will handle the rest of the
  process.
