Public bug reported:

i created a logical partition for swap and one for / using btrfs (both
in the same extended partition). this is on a macbook pro retina 15.4".
i am booting using rEFIt off a usb drive that contains the installer
that has been "converted to support efi". /dev/sda is a GPT partition,
and it contains osx. the installer could not install grub onto that
partition and rightly so (it would just mess up mac os). suggested fix:
detect this situation and require a /boot partition.
