I changed this bug to udev. Run this command from your terminal:
apport-collect 1047688
That may give us what we need.

If a USB devices are present (keyboard, mouse, or external drive),
grub2 will hang on:
udevd[134]: starting version 175
The system will not boot.
Hardware is a Thinkpad T520.
