Since this isn't a problem that the average user is likely to encounter,
I'm closing the paper cut task.

Bug description:
  If you manually parition your hard drive on a dual boot computer in a
  manner such as

  /dev/sda1 - windows files(os)
  /dev/sda2 - windows
  /dev/sda3 - windows
  /dev/sda4 extended partition
  /dev/sda5 linux swap
  /dev/sda6 ext4 /boot
  /dev/sda6 ext4 /
  /dev/sda7 ext4 /home

  The you install ubuntu and choose to install grub to /boot rather than
  sda (MBR) the ubuntu install fails to find grub and boot after the
  installation completes.
