By default, grub uses the information available from the video bios to
set the mode for the menu screen.  If the video bios information is
incorrect, you can always hard-code a preferred resolution in
/etc/default/grub.

  Invalid

Bug description:
  I encountered this issue since natty. After every clean instalation of
  the os monitor(L1919S) says "screen out of range". in conclution
  Plymouth and grub are affected.

  Simple workaround is changing res with startupmanager package.
