I can't reproduce this issue; mountall has explicit code to strip
trailing slashes from mountpoint names, and it works here for me.  Is
this bug still present with 12.04?  If so, can you try running mountall
--verbose and pasting the output?

  Binary package hint: mountall

  lucid boot into maintenance shell if mount target directory ends with /
  Example:
  /dev/mapper/lucid--home /home/ ext3 defaults 0 2   ---> drops to maintenance shell
  /dev/mapper/lucid--home /home  ext3 defaults 0 2   ---> OK
