[Bug 961720] [NEW] update manager very slowly removes installed packages after install

Public bug reported:

When there is a large number of updates reported via the update-manager
and you shoose to install them all, they are removed from the list one
at a time very slowly after all packages have been installed.  This
happend frequently as I keep my 12.04 Beta up-2-date.
