You have been subscribed to a public bug:
I was using the installation CD which I already used successfully for a
previous installation Ubuntu 11.10, a CD created in oct 2011; I had to
reconfigure my computer; I could re-use the existing 10.04 version,
until now, but could not re-start the 11.10 one; I tried to re-install
it : this bug showed up while this re-install was in progress
