No you dont have to wait. You can install 11.10 now and when 12.04
becomes stable in April, upgrade to that. If you are planning to
upgrade though, try and leave the system as 'default' as you can.
Installing custom PPA's can also cause problems for an upgrade.

Bug description:
The update from 11.04 to 11.10 does not succeed, searched for similar bugs, they were due to a nvidia xorg package (nouveau), but I don't have it. The logs are enclosed, I guess it is due to a given package, but I can't find it.
