The problem has not occurred since the final release of 11.10 and up to
the latest update (3.0.0-16).

I cannot do much about this bug report, e.g. changing its status to
"closed".

Thanks for taking your time anyway.

Title:
  Files missing from package linux-headers-3.0.0.9

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
After installing Ubuntu / Lubuntu 11.10 Beta 1 from Ubiquity /
Alternative methods, the following files are missing:

  /usr/src/linux-headers-3.0.0.9/KBuild
  /usr/src/linux-headers-3.0.0.9/KConfig
  /usr/src/linux-headers-3.0.0.9/Makefile

Even though the linux-header* packages are installed. As a result, any
compilation of kernel module projects would fail.

The only workaround I have so far:

  sudo apt-get remove linux-headers-3.0.0.9
  sudo apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r`

NB: this bug has appeared and disappeared momentarily around Alpha 3,
and has now come back to haunt us
