I'm seeing a bunch of kernel tracebacks in the log file; this seems to
be lower-level than the installer.

  crash during installation

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: ubiquity

  my steps
  1. download ubuntu 11.04 32-bit iso-image
  2. create a startdisk on a usb stick
  3. boot from usb stick and start direct installation process

  ** installation process crashed during the time zone screen is shown
  ** get an error message, then system died
  next try 

  3. choose try option -- Ubuntu is running
  4. start installation (using the button on screen )

  ** installation process is starting
  ** after 10 s the session is hanging

  I try the 64AMD - image also  ---  same result

  a tty is running and I have copied a syslog ( s. attachment ), there
  is no partman

  A Kubuntu 10.4.2 is running on that computer.
