Public bug reported:

I was receiving data from a gdbserver running inside a qemu VM, when the
client gdb threw the following error:

/build/buildd/gdb-7.5/gdb/findvar.c:176: internal-error: extract_typed_address: type is not a pointer or reference
A problem internal to GDB has been detected,
further debugging may prove unreliable.
