Title:
Expert install defaults to invalid hostname

Status in “netcfg” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Running the expert install with D-I, it gives the first part of the IP
address I entered during manual network configuration as the
recommended hostname. The installer should not allow, let alone
recommend, invalid hostnames. See attached screenshot.
