Can confirm that bug for Oneiric Beta2 with all updates (upgraded from 11.04). Or maybe it is another bug? Quick search displays only a.... to f.... results, no packages for g..... to z..... package names.
sudo update-apt-xapian-index didn't work too.

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: synaptic

  After adding medibuntu repositories, I tried to look for skype package
  using quick search, and I got no results. If instead I use the
  "normal" search button, I can find it.
