Could you please paste the output of then commands:
$ sudo os-prober
$ sudo sfdisk -l /dev/sda

Do you mean that sda8 is a native ext3/4 partition and recognized as a MS-DOS partition or that Natty is installed on a file on sda8 (mounted as a loop device with wubi for instance) ?
Thanks.

Title:
  New Version of grub in oneric (11.10) is unable to find natty (11.04)

Status in “os-prober” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: grub

  I just installed oneiric on a second partition and run a grub update.
  This was the outcome:

  Generating grub.cfg ...
  Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.39-3-generic
  Found initrd image: /boot/initrd.img-2.6.39-3-generic
  Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.38-8-generic
  Found initrd image: /boot/initrd.img-2.6.38-8-generic
  Found memtest86+ image: /boot/memtest86+.bin
  Found Windows Recovery Environment (loader) on /dev/sda3
  Found MS-DOS 5.x/6.x/Win3.1 on /dev/sda8
  done

  but on sda8 there is another ubuntu version installed, namely 11.04.

  Thanks!
