Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Title:
Synaptic freezes when I select a package to install and scroll through
list of dependencies
Status in “synaptic” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Binary package hint: synaptic
Whenever I select a package to install which requires multiple other
packages (e.g. KOffice or k3b on Ubuntu) and the dialogue pops up
asking about all the extra packages to install, when I scroll through
the list in the dialogue, Synaptic suddenly freezes. Then it's
impossible to even force-quit (via system-monitor, or otherwise),
because synaptic is no longer on the list of processes. So the only
thing to do it to restart the system.
