Thanks, David, for reporting back.  I don't think testing in oneiric is
necessary since lucid and natty work as you say.  I'll resolve this
ticket to status invalid since it was never confirmed by anybody else in
due time.  Thank you for reporting this issue, please keep doing so.

Status in “base-installer” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  LVM installation using alternate amd64 daily build (19/03/09)

  /boot on /dev/sda2
  LVM on /dev/sda3

  LVM contains 20G root (ext4) and 2G swap

  While installing the base packages, a debootstrap error is displayed.
  From syslog:
