Hmm, can you by any chance gracefully shutdown the PC. If not, remove
the power plug, put it back in and power up the PC and see what comes
up. If nothing comes up, try to boot Ubuntu from the CD or flash drive
and do the process again.
Could you provide some hardware details like the processor, motherboard,
RAM and disk info? Just because the issue seems intertwined with
hardware.

Title:
Installer crashed
Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Hi,
I am trying to install Ubuntu 11.04, in place of Windows XP. I have
encountered an "Installer crashed" error which has advised me to file
a new bug report - it asked me to "include the following detail in
[my] report" but didn't provide any further detail, and also said to
attach the files /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman: but I'm not
sure how to go about doing so.
Any help you can provide will be very gratefully received as the
installation process seemed to have been ongoing for some time so I'm
concerned that, if Ubuntu doesn't work because of the Install crash, I
may be left with no operable OS at all.
Thanks,
Luke
