[Bug 810187] Re: Installer crashed

Hi Taha,

I am replacing Windows XP.

When you ask whether "Windows XP boot[s] up or [whether] the Ubuntu
installation [has] replace[d] some of the contents on the disk", are you
suggesting that I switch off my PC (presumably from the wall?), switch
it back on again and see which OS (if any) boots up...?

For info, overnight, a further 23 SQUASHFS errors have been added to the
9 previously listed.

Thanks,
Luke

Title:
  Installer crashed

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Hi,

I am trying to install Ubuntu 11.04, in place of Windows XP. I have
encountered an "Installer crashed" error which has advised me to file
a new bug report - it asked me to "include the following detail in
[my] report" but didn't provide any further detail, and also said to
attach the files /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman: but I'm not
sure how to go about doing so.

Any help you can provide will be very gratefully received as the
installation process seemed to have been ongoing for some time so I'm
concerned that, if Ubuntu doesn't work because of the Install crash, I
may be left with no operable OS at all.

  Thanks,
  Luke
