Title:
ipconfig fails sporadically with e1000
Status in “klibc” package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
On systems using the e1000 network driver, the first ipconfig call
always fails as follows:
ipconfig -t 60 eth0
IP-Config: eth0 hardware address 00:0b:db:59:85:2d mtu 1500 DHCP RARP
[ 2.915006] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth0: link is not ready
[ 3.344370] e1000: eth0 NIC Link is Up 100 Mbps Full Duplex, Flow Control: RX
[ 3.344651] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth0: link becomes ready
IP-Config: no response after 60 seconds - giving up
However, the second or third invocation works just fine:
IP-Config: eth0 hardware address 00:0b:db:59:85:2d mtu 1500 DHCP RARP
IP-Config: eth0 complete (from 128.59.62.25):
address: 128.59.144.145 broadcast: 128.59.151.255 netmask: 255.255.248.0
