Title:
[Natty] Too big windows for small screens !
Status in “ubuntu-meta” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
In Natty, quite often, Windows size defaults to sizes too big to fit
on a netbook 1024x600 display, even when no reason for Windows to be
that big.
Example :
- update-manager window is more than 600 pixels high by default, even
when displaying empty list, putting several buttons "invisible under
screen limit". (However window can be resized).
- Evolution Window simply cannot be made to fit in 1024 width.
I know many developpers have wide screens (or several screens) but as
a general guideline, application default windows size should never be
such as they don't fit into a small screen, when possible (it always
easier to enlarge a small window rather than use or reduce a window
bigger than screen - if it can be done at all).
That's especially true for windows that will happily show a 800 pixels
high empty list, with buttons hidden out of sight...
Suggestions : Asks developpers to test their apps on a netbook !
