creating fat 'thin' clients with ltsp new problem

I'm not a 'windows guy' but I think AD is almost the same as LDAP, so maybe
you can use this, which I used:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/OpenLDAPServer

I also found this, which is for gentoo, and looks overly complex and
complete, but if you understand it, it should work for you:
