Was the laptop plugged direct into the main switch or the secondary one?

That's got to be several switches in between, right?

Could you try again, plugging the WAP into the Gigaswitch and see if we can
rule out the secondary switch?  Also plug the laptop direct into the
Gigaswitch and cut the WAP itself out.

You should be able to run tcpdump or wireshark on the server itself and
verify the checksums.  You can also run it on something plugged straight
into the main switch.  This will help you isolate further.
