Edubuntu opens in a terminal only mode

You'd probably see the wacom error anyway.  It seems to be normal

You can probably figure out if the issue is down to the mouse problem by
commenting out the line:
 
        InputDevice     "Configured Mouse"

near the bottom of /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and disabling the mouse.  You might
also need to comment out the mouse's InputDevice section.

According to this page (which is about 7.04, not 6.06), there can be an
issue with the video driver too.  Take a look at the section titled X.org
