yikes!  i don't have any specific suggestions for you, i'm afraid, but
i've had a serious problem with the P3005n with ubuntu 6.06.  We
actually ended up returning the model that we got to the vendor.

the highlight: i was told by HP support that "sometimes the print
server will crash because of the network it is on", with the
implication that this is perfectly normal and acceptable.  I
acknowledged that the network cable needed to be within electrical
specifications, but they said that the data sent over the network
itself could crash their print server.

For a network-enabled device in anything approaching a public
environment, that's obviously unacceptable.

anyway, beware of that printer.
