local device support not working 6.10

Hey
I wasnt in the fuse group so I fixed that and now I can see the local
floppy and CD drive, but I still cant get the usb drives to mount and
all the students are using usb keys:-(.
LOCALDEV=True is in the default config as well.

any more ideas?
