onboard graphics for server?

Would it make any difference if the server has a graphics card onboard or if
it has a dedicated card?
As the graphics card on the server will rarely be used I guess it will not
make any difference, but I thought I would ask. I was thinking that if the
graphics card shares memory with the system it might steals some of the ram
even if it does not really need it.
