I noticed this same problem on the server, it doesn't shutdown but freezes unless you shutdown with the cpu power button, though the shutdown work fine on the client i have tested.

Any solution yet on server shutdown?

David

I had a problem with 6.10 where it wouldn't completely shut down on
Dell 210Ls SOME of the time (maybe 10% of the time, which with 150
workstations is rather annoying), it would get to the point where the
light would normally turn off, but instead the light would stay on and
a fan would either turn on or speed up to the point where it was
audible.

Rather a pain, I filed a bug but after asking me to attach the output
of several commands I haven't seen much activity on that.

Do you think using APM might help in that situation?

I've no idea to be honest. It might be worth a try. If it fixes the
problem you can report that straight to the acpi guys and see what they
say. You should make sure it's still an issue with Feisty if you can
first.

Hmmm, unfortunately I no longer work at that school, so I'm not sure
what I can really do...I'll see if there's a way I might be able to
explain steps to take to my old boss, but my feeling is he might just
say the benefits aren't worth the trouble.

Hi, I'm new to Edubuntu and Linux but it looks like it's just what we need
for our small school computer lab. We have about 20 IBM 300pl machines with
256 MB of RAM and I would like to "cluster" 5 of them together to make a
server and use the remaining for a 15 computer thin client lab. Is this
possible using just edubuntu or is other software involved? Also, if this
is possible, are there step-by-step instructions for how to proceed?

I use the IBM 300 PCs in attached to a P4 with 512MB of RAM and they work
quite well. I have begun reading about establishing Linux enterprise cluster
(see this book listed on
Amazon<http://www.amazon.com/Linux-Enterprise-Cluster-Available-Commodity/dp/1593270364>.)
This is quite involved, whereas setting up Edubuntu is a snap.

Is it possible you can get access to a better caliber PC to use as a
server? Then you'd have 20 workstations.

Hello all,
Due to some unknown reason my local device mounting is not working fine.
Though all the parameters in the lts.conf needed for local device mount is
enabled i just cant find the reason why the disks are not being mounted.
Please help me with information about ltspfsd in edubuntu too, if people
can.

Looking forward for your reply soon.
