The help's right there on your computer already.

You certainly CAN use it, just not in the way you want.  As other people have
pointed out, wireless can't be booted over, and quite frankly, isn't really
well suited to thin client implementations.  However, PII's and PIII's will
work fine as Edubuntu desktops, why not just run them like that?

If thin client is the way you want to go, the machines may already have wired
interface cards on board, or if not, they are cheap to buy.  It simply depends
on what you want to do.
