Can you try this from the command line : rdesktop -a 16 -f -k en-us -r
sound:local <the server ip or hostname>

By the way, you didn't precise if you were using Edubuntu on a
workstation install or on a LTSP network.

In the case of a workstation install you should have the sound from the
GUI and with the command I just gave you.

If you are in a LTSP environment, the sound is redirected from the
server to the client using ESD and rdesktop doesn't use ESD, in that
case you should try to add : "esddsp -m " in front of the command line.

(esddsp can be found in the esound-clients package)
