proxy server and synaptic

Hi there!

I just installed Edubuntu on my home computer and had a great time adding
additional packages using Synaptic.

However, here at school, we have a proxy server.  I have the IP numbers, etc.,
login and everything.  My browser is setup correctly . . . there is nothing
wrong with my information.

I think my problem is that Synaptic does not allow me to enter my user name and
password for the proxy server.  Anyway . . . it will not connect to the
repository.

:(

Advice??  How can I get around this?  Am I missing something?
