Authentication with a windows domain

Hi all

I was wondering whether anyone has attempted to get Edubuntu to
authenticate users with a windows domain as yet??

The reason I ask is that a lot of schools in the uk have an existing
windows domain and would probably not really like the idea of all the
work to transfer all the logins across (yes I know it is not that bad
but we may not be talking IT professionals)
