Hello Everyone,
The situation in Bolivia is this: We have a lab in a poor city called El
Alto. The lab has 20 computers, Pentium IIIs, 20GB HDD. However, we do not
have an internet connection there. Only in the office in La Paz. We have
installed Edubuntu(workstation) on all of the computers, but we need to
install Spanish lang. pack. Many on Xchat tell us to download the DVD. But,
the machines don't have DVD drives. We are setting up a server, but it
doesn't have a DVD drive either. So we need to make a CD that has the
packages for install on the individual machines. We have tried taking the
packages from a Spanish install in the office, but it does not seem to be
working. Here is what we did:
This is is the list of files that we took from the var/cache/apt/archives
folder.
aspell-es_1.8-4_all.deb
language-pack-es_20051011_all.deb
language-pack-es_20060126_all.deb
language-pack-es-base_20051011_all.deb
language-pack-gnome-es_20051011_all.deb
language-pack-gnome-es-base_20051011_all.deb
language-support-es_20051010_all.deb
mozilla-firefox-locale-es-ar_1.0.4lang20050515-1ubuntu3_all.deb
mozilla-firefox-locale-es-es_1.0.4lang20050515-1ubuntu3_all.deb
myspell-es_1.8-4_all.deb
openoffice.org2-help-es_1.9.129-0.1ubuntu5_all.deb
openoffice.org2-l10n-es_1.9.129-0.1ubuntu3_all.deb
wspanish_1.0.14_all.deb
And copied to the HDD, through the install feature, right clicking on the
file -> install. That is, some of them installed succesfully with a dialogue
box showing a progress meter. Some others came up with errors.
So, this did not seem to work. Any suggestions?
Thanks so much everyone!
Regards,
Seth
