Thanks for your bug. What version of python2.4-gobject is installed?
It's supposed to be fixed with that upload:

pygobject (2.9.0-0ubuntu2) dapper; urgency=low

  * debian/rules:
    - don't rename pygtk.py, that was for the alternative, not required now
