I have the same issue with Gnome. SMEG 0.7.5 and Gnome 2.12 with latest updates.
I can't add a new menu but what seems to be worse I can't even rename icons in
the menu (for example, I checked with "Document Viewer" to "Evince" and I always
get "Document Viewer", or "Text Editor" to "gedit"). I did "killall gnome-panel"
but I had the same results. SMEG seems that only works for me to move icons
within the menu, but I can't rename them and I can't add new menus (custom menus).
I am running Ubuntu Breezy Preview Release.
